M-Commerce Service Enables Retailers to Reach Millions of U.S. Consumers

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--mPoria, Inc. launched its ‘GoMobile!’ m-commerce service in North America today enabling retailers to sell physical products to consumers through the rapidly growing mobile channel.

With ‘GoMobile!’ retailers are able to build their own company-branded mobile shopping site without the need for an in-house development team; merchants simply use a wizard to establish a site and within 30 minutes of set-up, mPoria launches the site to millions of U.S. consumers with mobile devices.

According to CTIA, the International Association for Wireless Communications, there are more than 210 million mobile phone users in the U.S., with 2.7 billion users worldwide. Dan Wright, CEO of mPoria, said, “The reality is that people are living a mobile lifestyle and their mobile phones have become as essential as their wallet. This shift in behavior is opening a wealth of opportunity for retail merchants to reach and sell to their customers in a completely new way.”

Industry research firm Telephia reports in 2006 alone sales from m-commerce jumped more than 40%, increasing from $1.8 billion to $2.6 billion.

“GameStop is always looking for innovative ways to meet the unique buying needs of our consumers,” indicated John Brittell, GameStop’s vice president of e-commerce and direct marketing. “mPoria is an industry pioneer and their service has proven to be an excellent investment, allowing us to take advantage of strategic opportunities developing within the promising mobile retail market.”

U.S.-based retailers already tapping into the $40 billion m-commerce market through mPoria’s GoMobile! service include Cutter & Buck, Buy.com, TicketsNow, and GameStop.
